It was year 2000, when I first heard of the band Deftones. I must confess that I know a little about them. What’s more is that, I’m quite puzzled with their music but my friend named (blank) somehow helped out to discover the band and also love the band’s songs.

I purposely listened to Digital Bath one time, thinking that maybe I’ll find out myself that there’s nothing really hidden meaning behind the song, ’cause it happen to be one of my last-song-syndrome of all time. Each lyric helped out fast aid my twisted mind and I can say that since then I became a Deftones silent fan.

Deftones is a genre of a metal|rock|experimental band from Sacramento, California. They got three (3) blissfully albums which test their boldness as musicians on mainstream. The band softly drags down and beat the bushes off the hardcore scene and smacked us with the hits like Hexagram, Minerva and all that.

According to the creep show interview with Deftones vocalist last December 2009, the notion of ending up the band comes after the tear-jerking accident happened to bassist Chi Cheng in November 2008, which also made the other members felt truly devastated. However, after the tossing and turning issue about breaking up, they’d decided to just stick around and made them think that there’s a lot more in store for the band.

Deftones put aside the ‘Eros’ album because of what had happened to Chi and agreed to work on a new set of songs with Sergio Vega (friend of the band) who replaced Cheng on bass. So.

Also known as the eminent carnival – Mardi Gras or Shrove Tuesday in tribal English (or Paczki Day and sometimes even called the National Pancake Day).

Last night of eating greasy foods, prior of fasting tradition - for the coming Lent season.

Mardi Gras or Carnival is derived from the Italian word, “carne levare” and its meaning is “to remove meat.”

We all know that meat is not allowed during Lent season aside from performing fasting.

So it only proves that Mardi Gras is not only a revel in the worldly way, but it is actually a fun festival held before the Lenten season to thank the Lord for the blessings received the previous year also begin to ask for forgiveness of sin committed or perform *fasting (is abstinence of all food and liquids), after all the happy and sad episodes in our lives.

I and two of my Amiga’s celebrated the Valentine’s Day in an unusual way at the 14th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta last year. I can easily compare that the fun by the last year’s event and the opening day this year, was absolutely different.

Opportunity is sometimes open to all, sometimes not. Thus, I grabbed and go for it.

So given a chance last Thursday (February 11, 2010), I was at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga for the 15th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. Accompanied by blogger friends. So basically, I’m there not just to enjoy the show but in some way I’m nearby to cover the event.

And here it goes…

It was in fact my second time to join in the fiesta, however, I just couldn’t put out of sight the enthusiasm that I felt. And so, I’m taking all my chances to say thanks to Jonel and again to Iris for the opportunity.

November 29 last year was marked as a renewed joint venture among the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon (PIHAB), the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) – which handles the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) at Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.

The fiesta features attractive hot-air balloons from various participant countries like Germany and Philippines and then soon became the gathering of A Weekend of Everything that Flies!

The opening day was fairly crowded with family, friends and students on field-trip. I even saw celebrity couple there watching and enjoying the balloons, flying kites, paragliding, and skydiving. Roaming around and taking photos from the displayed aircrafts, gears, warrior vehicles, and looking at the photographs during war were truly attention-grabbing.

How timely it was that the former President Ferdinand Marcos widowed is running for Congress in the second district of Ilocos Norte here in the Philippines.

As the British DJ Fatboy Slim and 80’s band Talking Head member David Byrne, dedicates a compilation of potential promotion anthem and a double CD album to the Philippines former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos which entitles Here Lies Love.

Some award-winning musicians who contributed on the Here Lies Love album are Natalie Merchant, Cyndi Lauper, and Tori Amos.

We all know how the former First Lady digs up the admiration of the people around the world despite the bad things written and red about her family. And up until now, we still treasured what she did for our country like putting up the Lung Center, Kidney Center, Heart Center, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) that no one ever does. Take it or leave it. Take it. Right.
