An oath to OPM’s Indie Music equal chance from CHanneL[V].
Describing their content as “vivacious,” Javier said that the music channel is friendlier and more accommodating than others who largely focus on mainstream music to the detriment of unsigned but equally deserving Filipino artists.

Jose Javier Reyes promise to give the OPM indie music scene the chance it never had with other music channels.
“To focus only on mainstream music does not represent a wide base of youth culture,”
he said. “With CHanneL [V], we’ll let the feelings and ideas of young people speak not only of their music but their lifestyle. We aim to be the intelligent music and lifestyle channel,” he said.This thrust is most evident in the CHanneL [V] original program, “Popkorn.” Here, CHanneL [V] VJs and guest experts will review everything related to Pinoy pop culture from books and TV shows to movies and live gigs.
To reassert its place in the music scene, CHanneL [V] will launch exciting events and TV specials in the coming days.
The lineup begins with “The [V] invasion party on July 25 at the A-Venue in Makati City featuring DJ Bad Boy Bill, America’s top House Music DJ.
Other events to come are The [V] Club Nights; The [V] Amp Tour; Thursday Night Tri[V]ia Royal; The Campus In[V]asion and VJ Quest; The [V] Mall Tours; The [V] Halloween Party; The [V] Youth Forum; and AMP Live!

Rob Thomas will also be featured in CHanneL [V]’s Spotlight Special on July 15. As for regular local programs, these include “Turo Turo,” “Hits All You Can,” “[V] Tunes Pinas,” “[V] Tunes Pinas Live” and “Scene and Heard.”
These shows will be hosted by Hong Kong based VJ, Alvin Alfonso, a Fil-Am from Canada, whom will be CHanneL [V] Philippines resident VJ.

Solar Eclipse on July 22
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth.
The sun is like fire and the moon like water. The fire gives out light and the water reflects it. Thus the moon’s brightness is produced from the radiance of the sun, and the moon’s darkness (pho) is due to (the light of) the sun being obstructed (pi). The side which faces the sun is fully lit, and the side which is away from it is dark. The planets (as well as the moon) have the nature of water and reflect light. The light pouring forth from the sun (tang jih chih chhung kuang) does not always reach the moon owing to the obstruction (pi) of the earth itself—this is called ‘an-hsü’, a lunar eclipse. When (a similar effect) happens with a planet (we call it) an occulation (hsing wei); when the moon passes across (kuo)(the sun’s path) then there is a solar eclipse (shih).
